BasicsFootball is a physical american sport. One of the largest leagues is the NFL (National Football League) which is played in America. There are two teams and they both have eleven players. The point of the game is to score points and stop the other team from scoring points. There are a few ways to score points, they are...
Touchdown and extra pointA touchdown and extra point is scored when the offensive team either throws or runs the ball down the field and gets into the opposing team's end zone. Touchdowns, on rare occasions can be scored by the defense. If the defense was to catch the offensive team's ball or take it from their hands and return it to the end zone, they will also receive a touchdown. That gives the team six points. They get the additional point from an extra point. After a team scores a touchdown, an extra point is done which is generally a field goal from the 2 yard line; that gives you one point. On rare occasions, a team may want 2 points so instead of kicking a field goal they "go for 2" which means the team gets one chance to score another touchdown from the 2 yard line. If a team was to fail to score the extra point from one of the 2 methods, they will not receive that point, and will only receive 6 points. Field GoalA field goal is where a kicker from the offensive team tries to kick the ball in between the yellow posts. If he succeeds the kicking team will receive 3 points. It does not matter the distance of the kick; they are always going to be 3 points. SafetyA safety is where the defense tackles the offense in its own end zone. This would give the defensive team 2 points. Safeties are difficult to be done because it requires the offensive team to be near their own end zone and also for the defense to get to the offensive side quickly. |
