Start of Original Six

Because of World War II the NHL was reduced to only six teams. The Original Six teams were the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, and New York Rangers. These teams played eachother for 25 seasons between 1942 and 1967 before the National Hockey League expanded the teams nationwide.
