It combines "disc" meaning record and "jockey" meaning machine op orator. Disc Jockeys have been around since 1935 They started off on the radio, moved to clubs, and finally are on the go as mobile DJs. Disc Jockeys have basic equipment that is divided into sound and lighting. Also there are different types of DJs sorted by what they use and where they play.
