Paintball is a very intense sport. Anyone over ten years can play, but it mostly attracts teens. There are multiple ways to play, but the most common are speedball and woodsball.
Speedball is played with a team of about twenty people and it is played for a short period of time. The course played on is very small and there are blown up bunkers that you can hide behind. Once you get shot you're out for the rest of the game. If you're good enough you can join a paintball team and play speedball professionally. This game is mostly played by professionals but a lot of people enjoy playing it for fun.
The other type of game is woodsball. You can play in small areas with a small team, like speedball, or you can play with a lot more people. If you play with a lot more people it is called a big game. There can be anywhere from fifty to two hundred people per team. When you play in a big game there are many different rules depending where you play. One rule that is always the same is once you get shot you're out, but you can get back in once you touch your team's base. This way of play attracts more people and is less common then speedball.
Paintball is a high risk sport because you are most likely to get hurt. It must be taken seriously and you must wear the right equipment when you play. Most people are afraid to play because they don't want to get shot, but in reality it doesn't hurt as bad as you think it will.
